Volunteer Opportunities at the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center

Are you interested in helping the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center inspire visitors to become better stewards of Tampa Bay through conversation and education? Our Discovery Center on the St. Pete Pier is currently recruiting volunteers to assist with outreach, education, and boat-based eco-tours. Seasonal Environmental Education Internships

The Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center offers a limited number of unpaid internships, which are available to qualified students seeking hands-on field experience. We’re always accepting applications for the next season, so submit yours today! Click here to learn more and apply.

Typical seasons:

September-December (Fall)
January-April (Spring)
May-August (Summer)

Requirements:

  • Must be seeking or have completed a degree in environmental studies/science, biology, marine biology, media, business, or a related field.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, take initiative and act in a professional manner at all times.
  • Must be comfortable in and around the water, handling marine animals, able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted, and capable of spending long hours in various outdoor conditions.
  • Must be able to commit to 16 hours a week. 
  • Experience working with kids and/or aquarium exhibits is desirable.
  • Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR certifications are desirable.
